North & South Carolina Indian Frontiers, 1775
By 1775 the Carolina backcountry was the most contested ground in the southern colonies. This map traces that unsettled seam, where colonial settlement pressing inland from Charleston and the Piedmont met Cherokee and Catawba country in the Appalachian foothills, on the eve of the Revolution.
This is a reproduction, not an original. The 1775 source map was scanned at high resolution and digitally restored to remove defects, then printed in the United States as an ultra high quality print. The result keeps the character of eighteenth century engraving while staying legible enough to read the place names across a room.
Map Shop offers a range of finishing options to suit how you plan to display it:
- Premium paper
- Satin lamination
- Mounted to quarter inch foam core
- Wood rails
- Frame in black or walnut molding
It reads well in a study, a law office lobby, a university history department, or a genealogy researcher’s home office, and makes a serious gift for anyone tied to the Carolinas.
