North America Physical Classroom Wall Map with Backboard
Elevation is the hardest thing to teach off a flat political map. Students see a colored shape labeled Mexico and miss the fact that the Sierra Madre Occidental and Sierra Madre Oriental wall in a high central plateau between them.
This map comes from Kappa Map Group’s Advanced Physical series, built for grades 9 through 12 and the terrain-heavy units in AP Human Geography, earth science, and world geography courses.
- Shaded relief across the whole continent, so the Rockies, the Appalachians, the Canadian Shield, and the flat sweep of the Great Plains read at a glance from the back row
- Color ramp keyed to elevation change, giving students a legend they can actually use to compare regions
- Elevation profile illustrating topographic variation across the continent
- Country boundaries, national capitals, and major cities labeled over the physical base
- Latitude and longitude lines with the major latitudes emphasized
- Spring roller mounting on a backboard, so the map pulls down over a whiteboard and retracts when the lesson ends
Map Shop also finishes this Kappa title as paper, laminated, foam core, or framed for department offices and curriculum coordinators who want it fixed in place.
