Africa Advanced Physical Map
Most classroom maps of Africa offer a patchwork of country colors and stop there. The Advanced Physical series from Kappa Map Group works differently: shaded relief and a graduated elevation color ramp carry the explanation, so a class can see the Congo Basin sitting low and wet while the Ethiopian Highlands climb hard off the surrounding plains. A separate elevation profile lays the terrain change out in one horizontal read.
Built for grades 9 through 12, this map earns its wall space in AP Human Geography and world geography units where physical systems drive the lesson.
- Four data insets covering population density, annual rainfall, energy, manufacturing and trade, and natural vegetation and environment
- Country boundaries, national capitals, and major cities
- Latitude and longitude lines with the major latitudes emphasized, so students can place the Equator and both tropics across the continent
- Shaded relief plus a color ramp showing elevation change, with an elevation profile
Teachers pair the rainfall inset against the vegetation inset when covering the Sahel. The spring roller with backboard mounts above a whiteboard and pulls down only when the unit calls for it.
