Underground Railroad 1860 Classroom Map
Most students picture the Underground Railroad as one line running north. It was a network, and it did not always point that direction. This map from Kappa Map Group’s Classroom Series lays the routes out so a class can see the geography behind the freedom seekers’ decisions: where the network was thickest, where it ran through hostile territory, and where it pointed south instead of north.
- Escape routes concentrated in the free states and territories, where activity on the network was most extensive
- Routes shown within the slave states as well, including corridors leading toward Mexico rather than the northern free states
- Meets U.S. History curriculum requirements for public, private, parochial, and home school classrooms
- Published by Kappa Map Group as part of its Classroom Series of American history teaching maps
- Finishing choices include paper, laminated, rails in black or walnut molding, foam core mounting, framing, and spring roller with backboard
- Multiple history titles can be combined on a single roller system; contact Map Shop to build a custom set
