Lewis and Clark Expedition Map
In 1803 the Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United States overnight. What came next was the question of what that territory actually contained. This Kappa Map Group wall map shows both the acquisition and the answer.
Two expeditions are mapped with color-coded routes. The Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-1806 follows the Corps of Discovery from St. Louis up the Missouri River, through the Rocky Mountains, and down to the Pacific coast via the Oregon Country. Zebulon Pike’s 1805-1807 expedition tracks through the Louisiana territory and into Spanish Territory to the southwest. The Louisiana Purchase boundaries and Oregon Country are shown alongside both routes, giving students geographic and political context simultaneously.
Part of the Kappa Classroom Series. Meets U.S. History curriculum requirements for public, private, parochial, and home schools.
