Hexagonal World Map – Pacific Centered (Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area)
Every landmass is built out of hexagons. Coastlines turn into stepped tile edges, and countries read as blocks of color rather than outlines, so the whole sheet sits somewhere between cartography and graphic pattern.
Oxford Cartographers drew this Lambert Azimuthal equal area world map centered on 165 degrees West, which places the Pacific Ocean at the middle of the composition. The Americas fall to one side, Asia and Australasia to the other. Because the projection is equal area, the relative sizes of Africa, Greenland, and Antarctica stay honest — a rare thing on a decorative world map.
It works well in a design studio, a reception area, or a home office where a standard political map would feel expected. Map Shop finishes it on premium 36lb paper, with the following options available:
- Satin lamination
- Mounting to quarter inch foam core
- Black or walnut rails
- Framing
