North Circumpolar Region Wall Map
Most world maps cut the Arctic in half. This bilingual wall map does the opposite, centering the pole so Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Scandinavia and Siberia read as neighbors across one ocean basin. Published by Natural Resources Canada and sourced from the Atlas of Canada, it covers everything north of roughly 55 degrees on an azimuthal equidistant projection at 1:9,000,000.
What the map shows:
- Median September sea ice extent for 1981 to 2010, useful for showing long-term change
- The tree line, glaciers, ice fields and coastal ice shelves
- Land relief and undersea relief, with physiographic and hydrographic features labeled
- The Magnetic North Pole
- All international boundaries, Canadian provincial and territorial boundaries, and Canada’s 200 nautical mile exclusive economic zone
- National capitals plus cities, towns, villages, hamlets and some seasonally populated places
- Labels in both English and French
A working reference for northern policy and government affairs staff, Arctic researchers, geography instructors, and resource and shipping planners. Map Shop finishes it as paper, laminated, mounted, railed or framed.
