Mississippi River Pool 9 Map
Pool 9 is one of the wide, braided stretches of the Upper Mississippi, running from Lock and Dam 8 at Genoa, Wisconsin down to Lock and Dam 9 near Lynxville, with the Iowa shoreline at Lansing and Harpers Ferry on the west bank. Sloughs, sand flats, and timbered backwaters make it water you want to read before you launch.
This map from Mapping Specialists renders the bottom as a shaded 3D surface, so depth changes show up as terrain rather than a wall of numbers.
- 3D visual representation of the river bottom
- Boat launches marked throughout the pool
- Rock areas and vegetation identified
- Land area shown in high resolution aerial imagery
Walleye and panfish anglers use it to plan runs between backwaters and main channel structure. Fishing guides and bait shop owners hang the laminated version behind the counter and circle productive water with wet-erase markers. River cabin owners and boat clubs go with the foam core mount, which takes map pins for launches and favorite holes. Map Shop finishes each one to order in paper, laminated, mounted, railed, or framed.
