Maine’s terrain doesn’t flatten well. The western mountains, river valleys, and jagged coastline have real elevation drama, and a flat map loses all of it. This raised relief map by Hubbard Scientific brings that topography off the wall in three dimensions you can actually touch.
Each map starts as a print on high-grade rigid vinyl. A Map Shop technical artist then heat-treats and vacuum-forms that print over a custom Maine mold by hand. No two are stamped out by a machine. The result is a wall piece that reads as sculpture, functions as a geographic reference, and holds color and shading that represent elevation changes alongside the physical relief.
It works as home or office wall art and travels well as a gift for anyone connected to Maine.
