Antique Style World Map
Muted colours and soft hill shading give this map the look of something lifted from a Victorian study, though the geography beneath it is current. The Antique Style World Map by Global Mapping is the design whose larger edition won Best Wall Map 2013 from the British Cartographic Society, and it holds up to close reading rather than just filling a wall. Insets treat both polar regions, and an enlargement of Central Europe opens up the crowded borders there.
What sets it apart from most decorative world maps is the explanatory text printed on the sheet. Short passages cover the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn along with the Arctic and Antarctic Circles. An analemma shows which day of the year the sun sits directly overhead and how sun time compares with clock time. Labeling is in English throughout.
Map Shop finishes it as paper, satin laminated, or mounted to quarter inch foam core, with black or walnut rails or framing.
