National Geographic Compact Political World Wall Map
The compact world wall map from National Geographic condenses a full political world into a footprint that fits above a desk or in the narrow wall space beside a bookshelf. It is drawn on the Winkel Tripel projection, the compromise projection National Geographic adopted as its house standard for world maps, which holds continent shapes and relative areas closer to true than a Mercator does. The map reflects National Geographic’s research standards for country names, capitals, and international boundaries.
There is enough labeling to read the world at a glance and not so much that the sheet clogs up at close range. It works in home offices, dorm rooms, reception desks, and the side wall of a classroom where a full-size world map would swallow the space.
Map Shop finishes it in house with the following options:
- Premium 36 lb paper
- Satin lamination that takes wet-erase markers
- Mounting to quarter-inch foam core for pins
- Black or walnut wood rails
- Full framing
