Stanford’s General Map of the World on Mercator’s Projection
Stanford’s General Map of the World on Mercator’s Projection carries the name of Edward Stanford, the London mapmaker whose charts sat in shipping offices and colonial ministries for generations. Dating to 1922, it shows the world as cartographers drew it just after the First World War, laid out on the projection that made ocean course plotting straightforward. It reads well in a study, a law office lobby, or a conference room where a modern political map would feel too plain. The line work holds up.
