1932 Solent and Spithead Chart
This 1932 Solent and Spithead chart was prepared under the supervision of Captain O.M. Watts, A.I.N.A., and published by Stanfords for yachtsmen working the tricky double tides between the Isle of Wight and the Hampshire shore. Map Shop reproduces it from the Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection archive.
- Covers the entire Isle of Wight plus the mainland coast from Selsey to Milford on Sea, including Spithead and Southampton Water
- Inset harbor charts of Beaulieu River, Bembridge, Cowes, Hamble River, River Itchen, Keyhaven, Lymington River, Newtown River, Wootton Creek and Yarmouth
- Soundings in fathoms at low water ordinary spring tides on the general chart, in feet on the insets
- Extensive tidal information and written explanations of local streams
- Compiled from British Admiralty charts by permission of H.M. Stationery Office and the Hydrographer of the Navy
Finishing choices run from paper to lamination, foam core mounting, black or walnut rails, and framing.
