Spain and Portugal Wall Map
This National Geographic map renders the Iberian Peninsula as both a political unit and a piece of terrain. Physical and political content sit on the same sheet, so provincial and national boundaries read clearly against shaded relief that lifts the Pyrenees along the French border, the high Meseta Central, and the drop toward the Guadalquivir valley in Andalusia. An inset of Portugal’s Azores Islands carries the Atlantic portion of the country that a straight peninsula view would leave off.
Drawn in the Albers Conic Equal-Area projection, which minimizes distortion between two standard parallels while giving up true scale and shape elsewhere. Place names are set with care for legibility, and the bright palette with blue oceans follows the shaded relief style National Geographic has used on wall maps for more than 75 years.
