Pike’s Portage Area Topographic Map
Pike’s Portage is one of the few routes into the Barrenlands that paddlers still refer to by name. This shaded relief topographic map from GoTrekkers follows that chain of portages and lakes linking the East Arm of Great Slave Lake, near Fort Reliance, to Artillery Lake at the edge of the treeline in the Northwest Territories. Originally produced as a folding field map, it was expanded into wall format to keep the entire route in view at once.
- Drawn at 1:60,000, detailed enough to follow individual portage links, ponds, and terrain between lake basins
- Shaded relief rendering shows the rise from Great Slave Lake up onto the tundra plateau
- Published by GoTrekkers, a Canadian mapmaker specializing in northern and Arctic topographic sheets
- Finishing through Map Shop: lamination for wet-erase trip planning, foam core mounting for pins, black or walnut rails, or framing
