Baxter State Park covers 209,501 acres of Maine wilderness built around Mount Katahdin, the state’s highest peak and the northern endpoint of the Appalachian Trail. National Geographic’s Trails Illustrated map covers every navigable mile of it.
Over 200 miles of trails are mapped with mileage between intersections. Coverage includes Mount Katahdin, Traveler Mountain, White Cap Mountain, Pemadumcook Lake, Sebec Lake, Katahdin Iron Works, Borestone Mountain, South Branch Pond, and Trout Brook Farm. Contour lines and elevation data run throughout.
Recreation features are fully marked:
- Campgrounds and trailheads
- Interpretive trails and picnic areas
- Rental cabins, boating access, and canoe carry-down points
Printed on waterproof, tear-resistant Backcountry Tough paper with a full UTM grid for GPS backup. Researched in partnership with local land management agencies.
Most of this park has no cell signal. A phone screen is not a trail map. Map Shop carries the Trails Illustrated edition built for exactly this terrain.
