Stanford’s Railway Map of England and Wales (1873/4)
By the mid 1870s the railway had already redrawn Britain, and this map freezes the network at that moment. Edward Stanford’s London firm published it in 1874, showing rail lines running between industrial centers, coalfields, port towns, and market villages from the Welsh valleys to the East Anglian coast.
Map Shop produces this from a high-resolution scan of the original sheet in the Edward Stanford Cartographic Collection archive. It is a reproduction rather than an original antique, printed fresh and shipped ready to display.
