Vancouver 2010 Winter Games Region Topographic Map
This map was drawn for a single moment: the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games hosted across the mountainous southwest corner of British Columbia. Natural Resources Canada issued it as a special edition inside the Atlas of Canada Poster Map Series, using a 1:250 000 topographic base so the terrain that shaped every alpine, nordic and sliding event reads clearly across the wall. It has since become a keepsake as much as a reference sheet.
Collectors of Olympic memorabilia hang it alongside credentials and pins, ski lodge and hotel lobbies use it as a regional orientation piece for guests, and geography teachers in Canadian classrooms use it to connect elevation and landform to an event students recognize. Backcountry skiers and hikers planning trips in the same country keep it in the home office for route context.
