Environmental World Wall Map
The Environmental World Wall Map from Global Mapping puts the causes and consequences of environmental change on one sheet, drawn by British cartographic designer Mary Spence, MBE. This edition received two honors from the British Cartographic Society, including the Stanford’s Award for Best Paper Map, with judges citing its clear symbology and its ability to convey the environmental issues facing the planet.
The map covers:
- Pollution events, including the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the second worst on record
- Deforestation and the regions losing forest cover
- Urbanisation and the growth of major population centers
- Environment hotspots flagged across continents
- Coastlines at risk from rising sea levels
It reads as a natural companion to Global Mapping’s The Dynamic World, which handles the physical processes behind the same planet. Geography and environmental science teachers use it on classroom walls, and home school parents, university departments, and advocacy offices pick it up too.
Map Shop offers it on paper, laminated, mounted to foam core, railed, or framed in black or walnut molding.
