National Geographic US Physical Wall Map
The National Geographic US physical map lifts the physical geography plate straight out of the 11th Edition Atlas of the World and puts it on a wall on its own. Elevation carries the page here: the Sierra Nevada, the Colorado Plateau, the Mississippi basin, the Great Basin, and the long ridges of the Appalachians read as landforms rather than labels, rendered in the shaded relief style National Geographic has refined on its wall maps for more than 75 years.
- Drawn in the Albers Conic Equal-Area projection, using two standard parallels to hold distortion down across the contiguous states
- Scale of 1:6,163,000
- Separate inset maps for Alaska and Hawai’i
- Bright color palette with blue oceans, and place names positioned to stay legible over relief shading
- Available on premium 36 lb paper, laminated, mounted to foam core, or finished with black or walnut rails or framing
Geography teachers, home school parents, and curriculum coordinators use it to drill latitude and longitude and to anchor lessons on watersheds and terrain. It reads just as well in a home office or a reception area.
