Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll find answers to the most common questions below. If you don’t see what you need, contact us and our team is happy to help.

We carry thousands of products – some are stocked, some are printed on-demand, others have detailed finishing options that we add just for you. For this reason, the amount of time needed to ship your order can vary.

The amount of time it takes to receive your order is based on two factors:

1. The product turnaround time (this can be found on each product page).

2. The transit time (this can be found in the cart when you choose your shipping option).

We offer free shipping on most products. At checkout, our system automatically selects the most cost-effective option based on your location and the size of the product. Orders ship via USPS, UPS, or FedEx, depending on which service provides the best balance of speed and value. Oversized framed or mounted maps are shipped by FedEx Freight.

Please note: We can only ship to PO boxes using USPS. To use UPS or FedEx, please provide a physical street address at checkout.

Express shipping is not always available because many of our products are made to order. If you need expedited delivery, please contact us for a quote. Keep in mind that shipping large or heavy items overnight can be costly.

We ship international orders with UPS or FedEx. At checkout, our system selects the most cost-effective rate based on your location and the size of the product. The recipient is responsible for any duties, taxes, or fees charged by the destination country. While we work to keep shipping costs as low as possible, local charges are outside our control and remain the customer’s responsibility.

Shipping large or heavy items overseas can be costly but we may have access to discounted rates not shown at checkout for bulk or high-quantity orders. To request a custom quote, please contact us with your shipping postal code and the quantities of products you’d like, and we’ll provide the best available option.

We want all our customers to be happy with their purchase. We accept free returns within 30 days for most in-stock items such as folding maps, pins, and paper or laminated maps. Custom, personalized, framed, mounted, canvas, and clearance items are not eligible for return. Original shipping is non-refundable and return shipping is the customer’s responsibility unless we made an error. If your order arrives damaged, contact us within three days so we can file a claim and send a replacement. Click here for full return policy details.

We do not appraise antique maps or globes. We used to link to companies who do but they seems to be rare and keep closing their doors so we’re unable to offer referrals. Google is a good source for identifying the value of maps that have previously sold at auction. Search for the map name and cartographer.

We offer a number of do-it-yourself custom map engines that allow you to create maps of any area. Please click here to see the available options.

Raised Relief maps are 3D maps that we make through vacuum forming. They don’t just show geography, you can actually feel mountains, valleys, and landforms in a way flat maps can’t. Learn more about these maps and our process of creating them and explore the history of the Hubbard Scientific brand.
